COEAI’s president Nitin Datar confirmed that the decision was not taken under any political pressure. It was taken to keep public sentiment in mind. While the decision to not screen will cause monetary losses for the theater owners, there might have been greater damage if their screens were vandalized.
Earlier, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had also threatened to block the release of the movie in Maharashtra.
After this movie, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees starring Mahira Khan and Dear Zindagi starring Ali Zafar will also be banned.
